Ravenhill Promotions is proud to announce the creation of a sister promotion to Welsh Wrestling, which will be known as Grand Slam Wrestling! This new venture will see The Supersars of Welsh Wrestling cross the border into England, and entertain the English fans with our all action family friendly wrestling shows. Grand Slam Wrestling will feature all the stars of Welsh Wrestling plus home grown talent from England.

On this new venture, promoter Alan Ravenhill commented: "We're very excited about this, the Welsh Wrestling roster is quite exclusive in terms of not many of the wrestlers work ouside of the promotion, so this is a chance for the wrestlers and Welsh Wrestling to show the English fans what we're made of and why we're regarded as the top promotion in Wales. Grand Slam Wrestling is not only an exciting time for myself and my roster, but also for the English wrestling fans who'll have the opportunity to witness a new set of wrestlers that they may not have seen before".

Grand Slam Wrestling's debut show in England will be on Thursday 17th November at Congleton Town Hall, in Congleton, Cheshire. Followed by a show the next night at the Victoria Centre in Crewe, Cheshire. Grand Slam Wrestling also has shows booked in 2012 in Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire and Cornwall. On September 9th at Welshpool Town Hall, a womens match will take place for the first time in Welsh Wrestling's history. In all the years that Welsh Wrestling has been operating they have yet to hold a womans bout...until now!! Welsh Wrestling is proud to announce that the first female star to join the roster is "The Artiste" Becky James who is Cardiff born and bred. On the recruitment, promoter Alan Ravenhill said "I've had my eye on Becky James for a long time, ever since she graduated from the well respected Storm Academy in Canada, she's a very talented young lady, and along with wrestling ability she also brings beauty, and that combination I believe will help make her a success in Welsh Wrestling".

On hearing the news, Miss James couldn't contain her excitement: "I've always wanted to be a wrestler and naturally, being Welsh, i've always wanted to compete in Welsh Wrestling, and i'm extremely excited to be getting the opportunity in Welshpool in september". For more info on how you can see Becky James debut for Welsh Wrestling in Welshpool, check out the live events page for ticket info.

The carnival took place over two days and featured many of Welsh Wrestlings top stars including Big Dog, James Mason, Stevie Starr, Dafydd Rhys and the Welsh Heavyweight Champion, Kade Callous. On hand to oversee matters was Welsh Wrestlings senior official Ashley Cox, who is also a local Barry boy. On the event, Ashley said "It was a pleasure to help such a charity in my hometown, Welsh Wrestling and all the wrestlers involved worked really hard this weekend for a great cause, and hopefully this can become an annual event for us".

Welsh Wrestling is proud to announce that last week, their very own Stevie Starr had a tryout with the WWE. The tryout took place at the O2 Arena in London, where Steve had to wrestle in front of such stars as Goldust, Cody Rhodes and Jamie Noble just to name a few. The WWE was very pleased with what they saw and have invited Steve back for another tryout in November.

On his experience, the 6' 5" eighteen stone Swansea based powerhouse said "It was an amazing experience and an amazing opportunity, only a few years ago I started training at The Welsh Wrestling Academy, and to think that in such a short period of time I was offered a tryout with the biggest wrestling promotion in the world, the WWE! It's surreal! I'm just going to concentrate hard on doing the best I can for Welsh Wrestling, and hopefully make the next step with the WWE in November. I'm relishing the prospect of possibly going from the top promotion in Wales, to the top promotion in the World!"

On his WWE tryout, Welsh Wrestling promoter Alan Ravenhill said "I think it's safe to say that Stevie Starr is definately one to watch out for. From the moment I saw him training at The Welsh Wrestling Academy, I knew he had the tools and the look to reach the big time of pro wrestling, and it doesn't get any bigger than the WWE. Hopefully, 2011 will be a breakout year for Steve".

Last night, The Superstars of Welsh Wrestling rocked Welshpool in their debut show at the Town Hall. A great night was had by all as Welsh Wrestling carries on bringing top quality wrestling shows to every part of Wales, and thrilled the local wrestling fans of Welshpool who are accustomed to watching top notch shows usually promoted by the legendary Orig Williams. Everyone left happy, after watching Welsh Wrestling regulars such as Kade Callous, James Mason and Big Dog, ground pound and slam their way through the evening. After the event, Welsh Wrestling promoter Alan Ravenhill said "It was a great evening of action packed entertainment, and we at Welsh Wrestling are all proud that we can carry on Orig Williams legacy of producing fun family friendly wrestling all over Wales, and we look forward to coming back to Welshpool in the near future".

On Wednesday 23rd February, Welsh Wrestling performed live at Theatr Elli in Llanelli, in front of a rowdy crowd of 442 wrestling fanatics! And on this evening, two titles were defended as Kade Callous successfully defended the Welsh Heavyweight Championship against local lad Stevie Starr, and UEWA European Champion James Mason defeated the sneaky "Mean" Tommy Dean to retain the gold! However, it was Tommy Dean's pre-match comments directed to Swansea City star Ashley Williams, who was a special guest on the show, that got the 400+ crowd buzzing, when Dean stated that "Ashley Williams isn't man enough to play for a team like Cardiff City, that's why he's stuck with Swansea". Well it was Ashley Williams who'd have the last laugh, because at the end of the show when Tommy Dean was lying out cold in the ring, Williams was invited into the ring to a massive applause, and actually pinned the fallen Tommy Dean (see picture below) to the delight of the West Wales audience!

International football star Ashley Williams will swap the pitch for the ring this Wednesday (23rd February), when he is part of a huge Welsh Wrestling spectacular at the Theatr Elli in Llanelli.

Williams, 26, will serve as the special guest ring announcer for the Welsh Heavyweight Championship showdown between champion Kade Callous and challenger, local boy Stevie Starr.

Promoter Alan Ravenhill said: “It is a great honour to welcome an international athlete of Ashley’s calibre to Welsh Wrestling”.

“With Swansea City flying high in the Championship, Ashley may be tangling with the Premiership’s finest on a weekly basis next season.

“For him to take time out of his busy and demanding schedule is a fine gesture, and shows the great strides we have been making in the Welsh sporting community”.
